Lucky Week 13 – Rough One

This week was a rough one. Wally was having an itching issue and the prescription we got from the vet made him quite sick and has been having accidents all over the house…it kind of wrecked the week.  I didn’t hit the gym for 5 days straight and was not getting a lot of great sleep from getting up in the middle of the night.

It’s kind of amazing how important sleep and routine have become.  When these two parts are off for me, I feel like I can’t get my shit together.  I don’t get my Me Time.

General Health

Here’s how I’m did with March FitCamp!  :

  1. Respect nutrition – I LOST 3LBS IN MY FIRST FUCKING WEEK ON WEIGHT WATCHERS.  FUCK YEAH.
  2. Do one legitimate straight-leg pushup – So I did not make this March goal :(  I can lower myself all the way down without just falling now but can’t push myself back up.  I can do a about 3-5 on my knees which is an improvement!
  3. Beat last month’s 13 days at the gym –I went 17 times in March.

GYM July 2016 – June 2017: 70(as of 3/21) /120

Be Creative
Still getting my knit on.  My friend just introduced me to a new craft group that meets 3 blocks from my house!  So I hope to make it to their next meetup – I’m getting close to finishing this scarf and then I can start LEG WARMERS.

Financial Goals

Pay Down Some Mortgage
This week I put $32.10 in.  I like when my bank accounts have nice even numbers so I just took the weird amount.

Frugal as Fuck – FAF
I sucked at this game this month.  I was way over on pretty much everything.  For the most part it was NOT frivolous.  My gym/walking shoes had holes in them.  I was down to my last 2 pairs of workout pants that don’t show off my hoo-ha with holes.  Weight Watchers.  Vetrinarian.  The little things add up and I’m going to make it a point to be really be FAF in April.

Mortgage: $588.60/$1,000

Tax season is really not a joke for my job so I’ve been swamped.

Learning About Annuities
We started this on Friday!  I learned why someone would use annuities and some of the perks of using them!

Were you taught to double-space after a period?
So it never occurred to me that my double spacing could be a problem with blogging..but someone shared an article that it is now archaic in the blogging world. And everywhere else. So I’m trying to train myself to only single space and it’s difficult.

Weekly Updates
Well I’m posting at least once a week so 13 down…

Five Frugal Things: Saturday Edition

A la The Non-Consumer Advocate:

  1. I have no plans….and that’s the best plan some weekends.  We went grocery shopping and are staying in the house while my boyfriend attempts making pho!  Our pot is not the suggested size but we are making do… wp-1489260198922.jpg
  2. I’m continuing to work on my first knitting project and I’m trying to get through the purple yarn so I can start the green!  It’s such a great activity to do and I can run Swagbucks and InboxDollars while I do it.  A great couch activity for a quiet, cold weekend.
  3. Enjoying the TV we have at the house instead of renting or going to the movies.  We do have cable and are locked in until December but we take full advantage of OnDemand and DVR.  I’ve got plenty of People’s Court and High Court to watch!
  4. I rinsed out the compost bucket with rain barrel water while that was emptying and watered our little babies – look at them grow!2017-03-11 11.02.32.jpg
  5. I’m not buying anything!  So enjoy this picture of Wallace:2017-03-11 12.45.49

#TealTuesday – #Wallydog and Old Decor

Today’s #TealTuesday is dedicated to happy memories.

As I was trying to take pictures of Wally being cute on the couch I realized that I’ve had this pillow for over a decade.

I remember when I got this pillow and it’s a little nostalgic.

When I was in college, my mom completely redid my bedroom – including a brand new bed set.  We went to a nice mattress store to get me the actual bed frame, mattress, and box spring but everything else came from Target.  I still remember walking through the aisles of Target with her trying to figure out the best colors to compliment my as-close-to-teal-as-they-would-allow-blue.  This pillow was the only fully-teal thing I got that day!

My mom passed away in 2009 so these are the kind of happy memories I cling to.  We did a lot of shopping and eating out while shopping together and I’m happy to still have pleasant reminders around my home.

I still have everything but the mattress and box spring – I think we got the dresser and bedside table back before Target’s quality starting to really go down since they have lasted through four moves and are still kicking!  We still use the quilt on my bed and the sheets are in my closet.

It was a fond memory of shopping with my mom that still fits my home decor and I am happy that Wally likes to hang out with it.

One Week Down. Fifty One to Go.

How did the first week of my goals go?  Well…let’s see:

Personal Goals

General Health
I went to the gym twice last week which is better than many other weeks.  I forgot to mention in my initial post that my gym will reimburse my gym memberships if I go to the gym 120 times in a calendar year.  120 equals going up to three times most weeks so it’s a bit tough and I have a few months where I was off the bandwagon.  So far I’ve been 32 times since July 5th…in theory, if I go 3 times a week from now to the end of june I can hit that reimbursement!

As you read this, I’m finishing up at the gym right now!  I’ll be down for the count Thursday and Friday so I’m making an effort to get it in early this week.

GYM July 2016 – June 2017: 33/120

Sub-Goal: Donate Blood – February 20th!

create! Create!! CREATE!!!
I STARTED A PAINTING!  I got my paints all set up in my Craft Cave and have put two layers down so far.  It feels good but I think I need to get a second one going too because I forgot how much I hate lag time when waiting for paint to dry.

Curious of what Wally was helping me with last week?  I WORKED ON A LATCH HOOK PROJECT!  I pulled a latch-hook rug project out that I started a year ago and finished the block but now need to go back and fix it up.  I don’t want to reveal what it is yet….so here’s another picture of Wally helping me with it:wp-1483926358383.jpg

I picked up Amy Poehler’s Yes Please at the library and finished the book last night.  I’m convinced that Amy Poehler and I are *almost* the same person and feel freshly renewed.  The book set a good tone for my year and was full of awesome quotes to hold close.  I joined a Goodreads Reading Challenge to read 6 books this year – a bit less than the 30+ most of my friends on there have pledged….but I’m realistic and know myself.  I do have a few books waiting to come in at the library and I anticipate finishing this book pretty darn fast.

Financial Goals

Pay Down Some Mortgage
I saved $8 this week using Qapital

Save Like a Motherfucker
This week was a bit of a wash as I did go out twice BUT I also got a free catered lunch at work that fed staff for 2 days of lunch, the man and I for dinner, dinner with friends on Saturday…and I’m eating the rest of it for lunch at work today.  I did not actually save yet soooo…

Mortgage: $8/$1,000
Savings: $0/$1,000
So $2,000 towards each of these goals by June? It’s still reasonable.

Professional Goals

Continuing Education Credits for Health License
I e-mailed someone at work that does webinars and teaches people the products we sell so he’s going to call me this week to set up some webinars.

Learning About Annuities
I e-mailed someone different at work and they are on vacation so I hope to hear back sometime next week.

Someone is helping me with my creativity goal!

So far in this new year I have visited one friend and taking this guy for a nice long nature walk, dropped my car at a dealership for a free recall repair, and I have spent $35 at Aldi to last us the week.

What are you doing on this glorious Monday?
