Empowering the Painter – Week 3

Yes – that is huge. But I enjoy enlarging these pictures and going into the nitty gritty and maybe you do too? If it’s annoying please let me know!!

This was my palate and at the end I just played with it and used most of my paint. I enjoy finishing out a class this way. So I glossed a few more canvas boards for tomorrow!

I even threw in a little texture this time. Sometimes I enjoy things that require a little more problem solving.

Empowering the Painter – Week 2

2019-01-16-21.08.48.jpgI was able to knock out a few interesting things this class! The middle piece is something that I started in the last round of Empowering the Painter and brought it back to continue to work through. Lots of problem solving!

My local craft group is having a round of art & craft supply swaps this weekend and I LOVE picking up canvases from these events!! I often get pieces that are half-painted already or even a full piece and I get to enhance on renew and I love that feeling. We’ll see how these go next week!

Empowering the Painter 2019 has Begun!

I’m taking another round of classes at Fleisher Art Memorial  and already excited about my first round!

My instructor told me to use canvas board or paper for my palette and I’m super into the results.

And that’s just the palette – not even the paintings that I started. We shall see what comes next!

What Did I Do in 2018?

I did a lot of creative stuff in 2018!

Knitting

I did a few projects – several hats. 2 pairs of leg warmers, and some scarves and cowls. The one I created in the featured photo is a mix of handspun from a friend and a black speckled acrylic – all yarn and the needles were obtained at a free craft swap!

Yarn Dying

My bestied @snitchingonstitches and I did so much yarn dying this summer with so many friends all over the east coast! This isn’t even all of them.

Oil Painting

I took a wonderful class at Fleisher that really opened up my creative paths.

Card Stamping

A fun project  with some of my thicker paintings

Acrylic Painting

I took an abstract painting class and used acrylic paints for the first time! Once I blow through the rest of my oil paints I think I’m going to switch to acrylic and stay there. It’s more cost effective and safe.

So I had a jam-packed year! My personal and professional lives also had a lot of positive shifts. I hope everyone else had a fair 2018 and are ramping up for an awesome 2019!
